Editorial policy

Every page on SplitAtlas must solve a real problem for a real reader, or it doesn't get published. That's the whole policy; everything below is how we enforce it.

What we publish, and how

• Facts come from the database, never from memory. Specifications, prices, and certifications enter our pages only through records with source attribution - a manufacturer document, an AHRI certificate, an Energy Star listing - each with a retrieval date you can see.
• Estimates say so. Calculator outputs, cost ranges, and payback figures are labeled as estimates with their assumptions published. Our sizing tool tells you, on the result itself, that it doesn't replace a Manual J calculation.
• Judgments are labeled. "Best for a garage" is editorial judgment informed by data; it is never presented as a lab measurement, and no system receives a rating when its data is incomplete.
• Recommendations are by use case. We don't crown universal winners, because the right unit depends on your room, climate, panel, and install path.

What money cannot buy here

Affiliate links and (future) sponsorships never influence scores, rankings, or recommendations - the scoring pipeline literally has no field for them. Sponsored placements, when they exist, are labeled. Full details: affiliate disclosure.

Review before publish

Product recommendations, electrical content, sizing claims, cost figures, and incentive claims pass human review before search engines ever see them. Pages display their review dates; safety-relevant content carries the strictest gates. Our AI-assisted process is fully documented at /ai-policy.

When we're wrong

We fix it, date the fix, and note it on the page. Safety-relevant errors are corrected within 24 hours of confirmation. Report anything: corrections@splitatlas.com - process at /corrections.
