Surge Protectors
A mini split's inverter board is the most expensive part to replace, and a power surge is exactly what destroys it. A surge protector is cheap insurance against lightning, utility switching, and appliance spikes. There are two ways to add it - a small unit at the outdoor disconnect that protects just the mini split, or a whole-home protector at the panel that guards everything. Match it to your unit's voltage and you're covered.

Line Sets
The line set is the pair of insulated copper tubes that carries refrigerant between the indoor and outdoor units. Two things decide which one you buy, and only one is your choice: the diameters are dictated by your unit's BTU size (match the manual exactly), and the length by your measured run plus a little slack. DIY systems ship a pre-charged, quick-connect set; pro installs use a bare set the tech flares and evacuates. Full detail is in the line-set guide.

Wall Brackets and Stands
The outdoor condenser needs a stable, level base that keeps it off the ground for airflow, drainage, and - in snow country - clearance above the snow line. You have three routes: a ground pad on a flat spot, a wall bracket that bolts it to the house, or a stand that raises it on legs. Match the mount to your site, and make sure its weight rating comfortably clears your unit.

Condensate Pumps
The indoor head sheds water as it dehumidifies, and it needs somewhere to go. If your head sits above the drain exit, gravity handles it and you need nothing. If it sits below, you need a condensate pump to lift the water out. The features that matter: enough lift height for your run, a built-in safety float switch so it shuts the system off before it can overflow, and quiet operation if it's near living space.

Line-Set Covers
Bare insulated line set on an exterior wall is functional but ugly, and years of sun degrade the insulation. A line-set cover is a paintable plastic channel that hides the tubing, protects the insulation from UV and weather, and makes the install look professionally finished. Kits include straight runs plus fittings - elbows, wall caps, and ends - so measure your whole exposed run before buying.

Cleaning Kits
A yearly deep clean keeps a mini split smelling fresh and running efficiently - the musty smell people complain about is biofilm on a damp indoor coil. A cleaning kit gives you the pieces the job needs: a wash bag that channels runoff into a bucket, a pump sprayer, and a coil-safe cleaner. The filters you just rinse in the sink; the coil and blower are what the kit is for.

Anti-Vibration Pads
A running compressor vibrates, and if that buzz transmits into a wall or a resonant surface you'll hear a low hum indoors - most noticeable when the outdoor unit is wall-mounted near a bedroom. Rubber isolation pads or feet between the condenser and its mount absorb that vibration for a few dollars. They're a comfort upgrade, not a fix for a wobbly or undersized mount - get the base right first.
