SplitAtlas

Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 20, 2026

SplitAtlas is a research and comparison resource for ductless mini-split heat pumps. The site works without accounts and without advertising trackers. We do not collect personal information during normal browsing. If you choose to request installation or repair quotes, we collect the lead details needed to match that request. This page explains what we collect, how quote-request data is shared, and how to request deletion.

What we collect

Anonymous usage analytics (cookieless). We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages and tools people find useful. This system is cookieless: it does not set browser cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not build a profile of you across sites. We see aggregate counts - page views, referring domains, country-level location, browser type, and anonymous interaction events - never an identity.

Google Analytics (uses cookies). We also use Google Analytics 4 to measure site traffic. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) to distinguish returning visits and reports aggregate usage to us. Google processes this data per its own privacy disclosure, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. We use it for traffic measurement only - not advertising.

Quote-request lead data. If you submit an installation or repair quote request, we collect the information in that form: ZIP code, project type, rooms or zones, approximate square footage, system of interest, timeline, name, email address, optional phone number, source page, UTM parameters when present, any repair problem description or error-code context you provide, and the consent text and timestamp. We use this to review the request and match it with installers, repair contractors, or lead-network partners who may contact you about installation or repair quotes.

Email. If you email us (see contact), we use your address only to respond.

What we do not collect

  • No advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers
  • No cross-site tracking or remarketing pixels
  • No precise location data
  • No personally identifying information during normal browsing unless you submit a quote request or contact us directly

How lead data is shared

When you submit a quote request, you consent to SplitAtlas sharing your contact and project details with matched installers or lead-network partners, or repair contractors so they can contact you about installation or repair quotes. We do not call an installer "recommended" unless we have a published vetting standard for that claim. Paid routing relationships are disclosed near the quote form: we may be paid when you request a quote.

We do not sell browsing data. Lead data is shared only for the quote request workflow described above, or when required to comply with law, protect the site, or respond to a valid legal request.

Affiliate links and other websites

Product listings on SplitAtlas may link to retailers through affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure). When you click through to a retailer, that retailer's own privacy policy and cookies apply from that point on. Affiliate links may allow the retailer to attribute your visit to SplitAtlas so we can earn a commission on qualifying purchases; this attribution happens on the retailer's side and does not send purchase or identity information back to us.

Embedded calculators

Other websites may embed SplitAtlas calculators. Embedded tools behave the same way as the rest of the site: anonymous, cookieless usage analytics only. If you use one of our calculators inside another website, that host website's privacy practices also apply to your visit there.

Retention

We keep quote-request lead data while it is needed to route the request, audit consent, prevent spam or abuse, and evaluate whether the lead program is working. Unless a longer period is required for legal, accounting, dispute, or fraud-prevention reasons, we target deletion or anonymization of lead records within 24 months. Email correspondence is deleted when it is no longer needed.

Your rights

Because we do not collect personal information during normal browsing, there is generally nothing for us to access, correct, or delete unless you submitted a quote request or contacted us directly. To request access, correction, or deletion of quote-request lead data or email correspondence, contact us through our contact page and include the email address used in the request. Residents of jurisdictions with privacy laws such as GDPR or CCPA/CPRA retain all rights those laws provide.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change - for example, if we add a new lead-routing partner or a newsletter - we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will be noted on our corrections page.
