Welcome to SplitAtlas. These terms keep expectations clear on both sides. The short version: our content is carefully researched general information, not professional advice for your specific home; our calculators produce estimates, not guarantees; and equipment decisions that involve electrical work or refrigerant should be confirmed by a licensed professional.

What SplitAtlas is

SplitAtlas publishes research, specifications, comparisons, cost data, and interactive tools about ductless mini-split heat pumps. Every published specification is backed by a cited source document, and our editorial policy and data sourcing policy explain how we verify claims and resolve conflicts between sources.

Informational use only — not professional advice

Content on this site, including calculator and estimator outputs, is general information:

  • Sizing results are estimates. Real load calculations (Manual J) account for insulation, windows, orientation, and climate details a web calculator cannot fully capture. Use our sizing results as a starting point, not a substitute for a professional load calculation.
  • Electrical information is reference material. Circuit sizing, breaker selection, and wiring must comply with your local code and should be performed or verified by a licensed electrician.
  • Cost figures are estimates based on published data and regional averages. Your actual prices will vary.
  • Installation decisions are yours. Some systems are marketed for DIY installation and others require EPA-certified refrigerant handling. We report which is which, but you are responsible for following local permitting rules and manufacturer requirements — installing outside those requirements can void warranties.

Accuracy and corrections

We work hard to keep specifications accurate and current, including flagging cases where a manufacturer's marketing numbers disagree with their own certification filings. Specifications can still change or contain errors. If you find one, please tell us through the contact page — our corrections policy describes how we handle and log fixes. We make no warranty that any specification is error-free, and manufacturers may change products without notice.

Embedding our tools

You may embed SplitAtlas calculators on your own site using the embed codes we provide, provided the attribution link back to SplitAtlas remains visible and unmodified. We may update or discontinue embedded tools at any time.

Intellectual property

Site content, design, and the SplitAtlas name are our property. You may quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link. Republishing whole pages, datasets, or tools without permission is not allowed. Manufacturer names, model names, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and appear here for identification only; SplitAtlas is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by any manufacturer.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SplitAtlas is not liable for damages arising from use of the site or reliance on its content, including equipment purchases, installation outcomes, or electrical work. The site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site grows. The effective date above reflects the latest revision, and material changes will be noted on our corrections page.
