Condensate Pumps

The indoor head sheds water as it dehumidifies, and it needs somewhere to go. If your head sits above the drain exit, gravity handles it and you need nothing. If it sits below, you need a condensate pump to lift the water out. The features that matter: enough lift height for your run, a built-in safety float switch so it shuts the system off before it can overflow, and quiet operation if it's near living space.

Buying Checks

  • Check that the pump's lift height comfortably covers the vertical rise to your drain point.
  • Insist on a built-in safety float switch - it shuts the unit off before an overflow, preventing water damage.
  • For a bedroom or office wall, pick a quiet slim pump; a noisy one right by the head is a daily annoyance.

Slim mini-split condensate pump

The popular choice for mini splits - a low-profile pump that tucks behind or beside the indoor head with a small reservoir and a safety switch. Aspen (Mini Aqua/Mini Orange) and Rectorseal make well-regarded ones.

Price
$40-$90
Fit note
Confirm the lift height covers your vertical run and that it includes a safety float switch.

Tank-style condensate pump

A larger-reservoir pump for utility spaces or higher-volume runs, with more capacity and lift for when the head sits well below the drain. Little Giant's VCMA series is the long-standing standard.

Price
$60-$130
Fit note
Best where you have room and a longer lift; overkill for a slim, hidden wall install.

Gravity drain kit (skip the pump)

If your indoor head sits above the drain exit, you don't need a pump at all - a sloped gravity drain line is simpler, silent, and has no failure points. The honest first choice when your layout allows it.

Price
$15-$40
Fit note
Only works when the entire run slopes downhill to the outside; otherwise a pump is required.
