Mississippi mini-split cost guide
Much of Mississippi is climate zone 2A (Gulf Coast) / 3A. Electricity here runs 14.88 cents per kilowatt-hour, so a typical 12,000 BTU system costs about $443 a year to run. 3 rebate programs below can cut the installed price. Installed prices are mostly national — labor is the part that varies locally.

- Install
- Use a Quality Contractor Network contractor serving the participating local power company. Eligible equipment must replace an existing primary electric heat source or serve newly finished space. The contractor submits the project, after which the customer completes the EnergyRight confirmation using the issued code.
Federal credit timing and state-program caveats are covered in the mini-split rebates and tax credits guide.
Code Notes
- Jackson's current Building Permits and Inspections page identifies the City's Building Permit Office and states that Jackson uses the 2018 International Mechanical Code with local amendments. Mechanical work should therefore be routed through the City for project-specific permit and inspection requirements; the page does not publish a statewide or fixed heat-pump fee. This is a City of Jackson code and permitting data point, not a statewide Mississippi fee.
