Goodman mini splits

Goodman is a large US HVAC manufacturer best known for ducted systems, and our ductless coverage is 2 systems in the Goodman 20 Series: 12,000 and 18,000 BTU at SEER2 19.5-20, rated to -13F, on current-generation R-32. Professionally installed.

Who should buy Goodman ductless: someone already working with a Goodman dealer on a larger job who wants a matching ductless head, in a climate where -13F is sufficient. Who should skip it: anyone shopping ductless on its merits - at SEER2 20 there are far stronger options at similar money.

What to know about Goodman

  • SEER2 19.5-20 is entry-tier by current standards. Several value brands we cover reach SEER2 27-33 at comparable prices, so Goodman ductless is not competing on efficiency.
  • -13F is a respectable rating and better than the +5F budget lines that several larger brands hide in their ranges. Goodman's small ductless catalog has no such trap in it.
  • Goodman publishes no homeowner-facing ductless error-code table that we could verify, which is why there are no Goodman pages in our error-code section. That is a genuine gap in the manufacturer's public documentation, not an omission on our side - and it is a real downside if you like being able to look up a fault yourself.
  • Goodman's strength is the ducted/whole-home side of the business. If you are weighing ductless against a ducted system, that is the more interesting comparison for this brand.

Goodman sizes and capacities

Room sizes use the same 25 BTU per square foot baseline as our sizing calculator, for an average-insulation room.

  • 12,000 BTU - large bedroom or living room to roughly 475 sq ft.
  • 18,000 BTU - open-plan space or insulated garage to roughly 700 sq ft, and the ceiling of our Goodman ductless coverage.
