Regional cost guide
Arizona mini-split cost guide
Much of Arizona is climate zone 2 (desert) / 4-5 (high country). Electricity here runs 15.23 cents per kilowatt-hour, so a typical 12,000 BTU system costs about $454 a year to run. One rebate program below can cut the installed price. Installed prices are mostly national — labor is the part that varies locally.
- Residential rate
- 15.23 c/kWh

Typical Sizes And Installed Cost
Equipment, materials, electrical work and permits are priced the same everywhere. Only the labor line is adjusted to this state, which is why these ranges sit close to the national ones.

Code Notes
- Arizona HVAC permits and fees are local. Phoenix provides a municipal planning data point: its 2026 PDD fee schedule is effective January 20, 2026 and sets building safety permit fees by project valuation, including a $195 base permit fee for $1-$1,000 of valuation and $195 plus $12 for each additional $1,000 or fraction for $1,001-$10,000. Actual ductless mechanical and electrical permit scope and fees are decided by the local authority having jurisdiction.
