Typical Sizes And Installed Cost
Equipment, materials, electrical work and permits are priced the same everywhere. Only the labor line is adjusted to this state, which is why these ranges sit close to the national ones.

Evergy Kansas Residential Heating and Cooling Rebates
Applications open
The current page provides an authorized-contractor finder and contractor-run application path. Rebates cover measures installed on or after January 1, 2026, during the published KEEIA term through December 31, 2027.
Covers mini-splits
Evergy expressly publishes a Heat Pump Mini-Splits rebate category.
Air-source heat pump: $500 at 15.2-15.99 SEER2, $700 at 16-16.99, $900 at 17-19.99, or $1,000 at 20-40. Heat-pump mini-split: $150.
- Equipment
- Qualifying residential air-source heat pump or heat-pump mini-split for an Evergy Kansas customer. An air-source heat pump may replace an existing heat pump, or a central air conditioner when the home has an electric furnace or electric baseboard heat. A mini-split may replace an operating or failed mini-split or be added to a home with existing electric heat.
- Income
- None published for these standard HVAC rebates.
- Efficiency
- Air-source heat-pump tiers require 15.2-15.99, 16-16.99, 17-19.99, or 20-40 SEER2. Systems must be AHRI certified at the stated rating with a matching coil; the contractor confirms the qualifying configuration.
- Install
- Choose an Evergy-authorized contractor. The contractor installs the new unit and submits the rebate application; some contractors may apply an eligible rebate up front.

KEPCo Energy Efficiency Air-Source Heat Pump Rebate
Applications open
KEPCo's current program page publishes the retail-customer offer and directs customers to the current member-cooperative list for local application details. Butler Electric's live rebate page confirms that a member cooperative is presently delivering the KEPCo offer; the KEPCo page controls the current efficiency tiers.
Mini-split coverage unclear
The controlling KEPCo page says air-source heat pump but does not expressly say ductless or mini-split.
$50 per half-ton at a minimum 14.3 SEER2, $75 per half-ton at 16 SEER2, or $100 per half-ton at 17 SEER2 or higher.
- Equipment
- Qualifying air-source heat pump purchased and installed by a retail member of a participating KEPCo member cooperative.
- Income
- None published.
- Efficiency
- The current KEPCo schedule publishes tiers beginning at 14.3 SEER2, then 16 SEER2, and 17 SEER2 or higher. Since January 1, 2023, there is no minimum system-size requirement.
- Install
- Contact the local KEPCo member cooperative before purchase for its submission details. KEPCo provides the rebate to the member cooperative, which passes it to the qualifying retail customer.
Federal credit timing and state-program caveats are covered in the mini-split rebates and tax credits guide.
Code Notes
- The Sedgwick County/City of Wichita MABCD current fee page links Mechanical Fee Table K, which lists air conditioning of 5 tons or less at $11, an air handler of 2,000 cfm or less at $14, and unlisted equipment at $7. The active permitting page routes trade work through the MABCD permit portal. The department must determine which rows apply to a heat-pump or mini-split project and whether other charges are due. This is a Sedgwick County/Wichita planning point, not a statewide Kansas fee.
