Code Notes
- Wisconsin's Uniform Dwelling Code is the statewide building code for one- and two-family dwellings built since June 1, 1980, and is enforced in all Wisconsin municipalities. Permit pullers submit required plans and data directly to the municipality, and the approved permit fee must be paid before the permit is considered issued.
- Wisconsin HVAC permit and registration fees are local. Sheboygan provides a municipal data point where residential direct replacement in a one- or two-family residence requires a $40 flat registration, residential new homes list a $200 flat heating permit fee when issued with the building permit, additions and extensions are fee-based on project cost, and commercial HVAC is $75 up to $1,000 plus $20 for each additional $1,000 or fraction. Actual permit scope and fee are decided by the local authority having jurisdiction.
