Cosmo is another brand in the GREE manufacturing family, and we track 12 systems across two lines: Cosmo Series single-zone (8 systems, 9,100-33,600 BTU, SEER2 19-22, rated -13F, with 115V options) and Cosmo Multi-Zone (4 condensers, 18,000-36,000 BTU, SEER2 21, rated -22F).

Note the unusual shape of that: the multi-zone systems are rated nine degrees colder than the single-zone ones. For almost every other brand we cover, multi-zone gives up cold capability. Cosmo is the reverse.

The single-zone line is mixed on installation - most Cosmo single-zone systems are DIY-marketed while the multi-zone condensers are professional-install.

Who should buy Cosmo: a price-led buyer who wants GREE-family hardware, particularly for a multi-room job where the -22F rating is genuinely strong for the money. Who should skip it: anyone needing deep cold in a single room - the single-zone line stops at -13F.

What to know about Cosmo

  • Multi-zone is the colder half of this catalog (-22F against -13F single-zone). If your cold-weather need is one room, look at GREE's Vireo or Envo instead of a Cosmo single-zone.
  • Cosmo shares manufacturing with GREE and TOSOT. Product photography for Cosmo is frequently published under TOSOT branding, which is why most Cosmo model pages here carry no image - we will not show a photo of a differently-badged unit and call it the product you are buying.
  • Mixed DIY and professional install across the catalog; confirm which you are buying, since it affects warranty conditions.
  • 115V is available in the single-zone line at small capacities.

Cosmo sizes and capacities

Room sizes use the same 25 BTU per square foot baseline as our sizing calculator, for an average-insulation room.

  • 9,100 BTU - bedroom or office to roughly 365 sq ft.
  • 12,000 BTU - large bedroom or living room to roughly 475 sq ft, and the most common 115V capacity.
  • 18,000 BTU - open-plan space to roughly 700 sq ft, and the entry point for multi-zone.
  • 24,000 BTU - large open areas to roughly 950 sq ft.
  • 33,600 BTU - whole-floor use to roughly 1,340 sq ft, single-zone only, at -13F.

Cosmo multi-zone options

Cosmo Multi-Zone covers 18,000-36,000 BTU at SEER2 21, rated to -22F - the strongest cold rating in the Cosmo catalog, and unusually good for a value-tier multi-zone condenser.

For two rooms, price two single-zone systems first - though note that in Cosmo's case doing so means dropping from -22F to -13F, which is a real trade-off rather than the usual free win.
