Choose the Pioneer if you've already booked an installer: it's the same class of system for less money, but its manual calls for flared connections and a vacuum, which is a professional's job. Who each is for
The MRCOOL buyer is paying for the easy install, not for better performance. There's no vacuum pump, no gauges and no installer to schedule: the pre-charged lines click together. EPA's Section 608 guidance says connecting pre-charged lines still requires technician certification, so check that before you plan the job, and you'll still want an electrician for the circuit. If the installer's bill you skip is bigger than the price difference, the MRCOOL wins.
The Pioneer buyer already has an installer, or owns a vacuum pump, gauges and a torque wrench and knows how to flare tubing. They get the same class of efficiency and the same winter limit for less money, and the installer handles everything the manual asks for. Buying the Pioneer as a DIY shortcut is the mistake to avoid.

The install is the real difference. The MRCOOL is designed for you to install: the lines couple by hand. The Pioneer's manual requires flaring the tubing, pulling a vacuum and checking the refrigerant charge. It's the same room, but a very different weekend.
