The ACiQ Multi-Zone Extreme Series 36k 230V is $4,459.99: SEER2 23, HSPF2 10.7, rated to -22F. The ACiQ Multi-Zone Standard Series 36k 230V is $2,499.99: SEER2 24, HSPF2 9.5, rated to -13F.

Read that carefully. The cheaper one cools slightly better. What the extra $1,960 buys is winter: a full point of heating efficiency and nine degrees of additional low-ambient capability.

So the choice is not "good and better", it is a straight question about your climate. If the system is mostly cooling, the Standard is the better buy and it is cheaper. If it is carrying heat through a northern winter across four rooms, the Extreme earns the difference and the -13F floor on the Standard would hand back to your backup heat on the coldest nights.

Best head flexibility: GREE Free Match 4-zone

The GREE Free Match 28.4k 230V is $3,662 at HVACDirect, certified at 28,400 BTU (sold as 30k), SEER2 21, HSPF2 10, and rated to -22F.

Its advantage is one that only matters on multi-zone: we have verified 24 compatible indoor heads for it, the widest list of the three. Four-zone projects rarely want four identical wall units - a bedroom wants quiet, a living room wants capacity, a basement may want a floor console or a slim duct - and the size of the compatible-head list is what decides whether you can build the system you actually want. ACiQ is close behind at 22; the LG is the one that constrains you, at 15.

LG Multi F LGRED 4-zone

The LG Multi F LGRED R-32 28.4k 230V is $3,703, also certified at 28,400 BTU, SEER2 20, HSPF2 9.8, rated to -13F. We track 15 compatible heads for it.

On the numbers it is behind the GREE at a very similar price, so take it if you have a reason to want LG specifically rather than as the default.

Read the warranty terms before you buy either of those

Both the GREE and the LG carry a purchase-channel warranty condition, and at these prices it is worth ten minutes.

LG's limited warranty is void if the system was purchased online from a source not expressly authorized by LG. We cannot confirm from LG's published material whether any particular online retailer holds that authorization - so if you are buying an LG online, ask LG directly whether that seller is authorized, and get the answer before you pay.

GREE publishes an online warranty-claim path for equipment bought online or at major retailers, but claims require a contractor's on-site diagnosis and documentation. Keep the purchase receipt and the installation invoice.

Each of those is sourced from the manufacturer's own compatibility chart, not a retailer's listing - retailers routinely list heads that fit a product family rather than the specific condenser, and a wrong pairing produces a system that will not commission.

One honest exclusion: ACiQ's SCC-0612-HH-MB cassette is adjustable between 6,000 and 12,000 BTU, so it is absent from the count above. We store a single certified capacity per head, and a range cannot be stored as one - it would make the combination arithmetic wrong.

How to choose

  • Climate decides the ACiQ tier, and it is a $1,960 decision. Cooling-led, take the Standard. Heating-led, take the Extreme.
  • Head variety decides whether the system fits the house. If two of your four rooms need something other than a wall unit, start from the compatible-head list, not the condenser.
  • Certified capacity, not the badge. Both the GREE and LG sold as "30k" certify at 28,400 BTU.
