ACiQ is the house brand of a national HVAC distributor, built on Midea hardware, and it is one of the few value-tier brands we can actually help you buy - it is carried by our affiliate retailer. We track 40 ACiQ systems across eight lines, all professionally installed.

The tier names are honest for once, and they run in a straight line: Extreme (SEER2 21-27.4, -22F) at the top, then Standard (SEER2 23.1-24.6, -13F/-4F), Standard Base (SEER2 18-21.5), Essentials (SEER2 19-21, -4F), and Essentials Economy (SEER2 17, +5F) at the floor. Multi-zone mirrors it: Multi-Zone Extreme (-22F), Multi-Zone Standard (-13F) and Multi-Zone Essentials (-13F).

Who should buy ACiQ: a buyer hiring an installer who wants Midea engineering at distributor pricing, buying Extreme or Standard. Who should skip it: anyone who lands on Essentials Economy expecting the rest of the range's behaviour, and anyone who wants a consumer-recognised badge.

What to know about ACiQ

  • ACiQ is Midea hardware. That is a genuine positive - Midea builds some of the strongest value equipment we certify - and it means an ACiQ fault code is usually a Midea fault code. Our error-code pages cover the shared EC/EH/PC families under both brands.
  • Essentials Economy is the floor and it is a real drop. SEER2 17 flat and rated to +5F, against -22F at the top of the range. It also reaches 35,000 BTU, so the largest cheap ACiQ is the least capable one.
  • Extreme is the line to want - SEER2 up to 27.4 with -22F rated heating, and it is the only single-zone ACiQ family that holds -22F.
  • Multi-Zone Standard reaches 60,000 BTU - the largest multi-zone condenser in our entire catalog. If you are conditioning a whole house from one outdoor unit, this is worth knowing about, though it is rated to -13F rather than -22F.
  • 115V is available in Essentials, Essentials Economy, Standard and Standard Base at small capacities.

ACiQ sizes and capacities

Room sizes use the same 25 BTU per square foot baseline as our sizing calculator, for an average-insulation room. Run the calculator for a real answer.

  • 9,000 BTU - bedroom or office to roughly 350 sq ft, offered in every single-zone line, so this is where the tier choice matters most.
  • 11,500-12,000 BTU - large bedroom or living room to roughly 475 sq ft.
  • 18,000 BTU - open-plan space to roughly 700 sq ft, and the entry point for multi-zone.
  • 24,000 BTU - large open areas to roughly 950 sq ft. Top of the Extreme and Standard ranges, so this is the ceiling for -22F single-zone ACiQ.
  • 35,000-36,000 BTU - whole-floor use to roughly 1,400 sq ft, in Essentials, Standard Base and Essentials Economy - the three least efficient lines.

ACiQ multi-zone options

ACiQ multi-zone runs three families:

Multi-Zone Extreme (19,000-51,000 BTU, SEER2 22.2-25) - rated to -22F. The cold-climate answer.

Multi-Zone Standard (18,000-60,000 BTU, SEER2 22-25.1) - -13F, and the largest multi-zone capacity we track anywhere at 60,000 BTU.

Multi-Zone Essentials (17,700-24,000 BTU, SEER2 22-23) - -13F, the small end.

The trade is capacity against cold: -22F caps at 51,000 BTU, and reaching 60,000 means accepting -13F. Both are strong efficiency for multi-zone.

For two rooms, price two single-zone systems first - single-zone avoids the part-load penalty and a failure only takes out one room.
