Gree is one of the largest air-conditioner manufacturers in the world, and it builds units sold under many other brand names. Its own-brand single-zone wall-mounts split into two lines we track: Livo (value) and Vireo (higher efficiency, with cold-climate models rated to -22F). These are current R32 systems that install professionally, not DIY.

What to know about GREE
- Livo is built to a price and its efficiency is mid-tier; Vireo is the performance line, with genuinely high certified SEER2 and deep-cold operation. Match the line to what you actually need.
- Gree and retailer pages sometimes list "up to" ratings that exceed the unit's own AHRI certificate (we saw this on the Livo 12k's EER2). We publish the AHRI-certified number, not the marketing figure.
- Model names round up: the Vireo "24k" certifies 22,000 BTU/h of cooling, the Livo "36k" certifies 33,600. Size to the certified figure.
