Every Blueridge system we track is DIY-marketed. The range runs from XS1 Basic at SEER2 17 to XS6 Max Efficiency at SEER2 35 - one of the two or three highest figures in our entire catalog - with rated heating to -22F on the All Climate and Max Efficiency lines.

Blueridge is sold direct online through Alpine/HVACDirect channels and marketed as easy to install; non-DS systems still require conventional mini-split refrigerant and electrical work, while DS lines use DIY-oriented quick-connect line sets.

What to know about Blueridge

  • XS6 Max Efficiency is the standout - SEER2 25.6-35 at -22F, offered 6,000-18,000 BTU. That efficiency ceiling sits alongside Mitsubishi's best and Carrier's Infinity 35, at a fraction of the price.
  • XM0 Basic is the multi-zone trap - SEER2 17 at +5F, against every other XM line at -13F or -22F. It is also the cheapest, which is exactly how people end up with it.
  • The tier number tells you the cold rating, mostly: XS5 and XS6 hold -22F, XS2/XS3 hold -13F, XS1 is mixed (-13F on some systems, +5F on others). Check the individual model page for XS1.
  • The DIY lines are the efficiency compromise. DS1 (SEER2 18.9-20.2), DS2 (22.5-23.6) and DS3 (21.2) all sit below the pro-install XS equivalents. If you can hire an installer, XS3 or XS5 is meaningfully better equipment.
  • Blueridge photography is watermarked by its retail channel throughout, so most Blueridge model pages here carry no product image. That is our rule about not publishing an image we cannot show cleanly - not a gap in the data.

Blueridge sizes and capacities

Room sizes use the same 25 BTU per square foot baseline as our sizing calculator, for an average-insulation room. Run the calculator for a real answer.

  • 6,000 BTU - small bedroom or office to roughly 240 sq ft, in XS5 and XS6 only, so the small end is served by the two best lines.
  • 9,000 BTU - bedroom or office to roughly 350 sq ft, offered in every single-zone line.
  • 12,000 BTU - large bedroom or living room to roughly 475 sq ft.
  • 18,000 BTU - open-plan space to roughly 700 sq ft. Top of the XS6 range, and the entry point for multi-zone.
  • 24,000 BTU - large open areas to roughly 950 sq ft.
  • 33,000-36,000 BTU - whole-floor use to roughly 1,320-1,440 sq ft, in XS2 Core and XS5 All Climate Plus. XS5 is the only line that reaches this capacity while holding -22F.

Blueridge multi-zone options

Blueridge multi-zone splits four ways, and the tier number carries it:

XM3 All Climate Plus (19,000-36,000 BTU, SEER2 23-25) - -22F, the best combination.

XM2 All Climate (18,000-48,000 BTU, SEER2 21) - -22F, and the largest capacity in the catalog at 48,000 BTU.

XM1 Core (18,000-36,000 BTU, SEER2 24-25.1) - -13F, the efficiency leader but not the cold one.

XM0 Basic (18,000-42,000 BTU, SEER2 17) - +5F. Avoid for heating.

DM1 DIY (18,000-26,000 BTU, SEER2 23-23.9, -13F) is the DIY multi-zone option.

For two rooms, price two single-zone systems first - single-zone avoids the part-load penalty and a failure only takes out one room.
