What triggers it
The voltage signal that the IPM sends to the compressor drive chip is abnormal and the system turns off.
What to do
- Test resistance between every two ports of U, V, W and P, N on the IPM; 0 or near-0 resistance means the IPM is defective.
- Check the connecting line between the main board and PFC module; connect it tightly and verify.
- Measure P-N voltage; replace the outdoor main board if voltage is normal.
- Check the PFC module inductance.
- Replace the inductance if it is bad; if inductance is good and two-port resistance is 0, replace the PFC module.
Which systems show it
- MRCOOL DIY 5th Generation single-zone 9k, 12k, 18k, 24k, and 36k D25 indoor/outdoor models listed in manual section 1.1.
