The best 24,000 BTU mini splits of 2026

Two cautions before you buy this size. First, a single 24k head cannot cool a whole house - air does not travel through doorways, so if you are covering several closed rooms you want multiple zones, not a bigger head. Second, check the certified capacity rather than the model name; the sizing calculator works in real BTU.

Best value by a wide margin: Senville AURA 24k

The Senville AURA 24k 230V is $1,799.99 direct from Senville, at SEER2 21, HSPF2 13.5 and a -22F heating floor.

The reason it wins is the comparison below. Those are the same three certified numbers as our next pick, for $600 less. When two systems certify identically, the cheaper one is the better buy and the rest is branding.

Same specs, more money: ACiQ Extreme 24k

The ACiQ Extreme 24k 230V scores marginally higher on our index at 8.9, and carries SEER2 21, HSPF2 13.5 and -22F

• identical certified performance to the Senville - at $2,399.99 through HVACDirect.

It is a good system. We would still take the AURA unless you specifically want the HVACDirect purchase path, because nothing in the certified data justifies the difference.

Best value at this size: Blueridge XS5 All Climate Plus 24k

The Blueridge XS5 All Climate Plus 24k 230V is $2,209 at Alpine Home Air with the same SEER2 21 / HSPF2 13.5 / -22F profile as the other two, for less money.

There is no DIY route at 24k on this page, and we used to imply there was. All three of these use flared line connections, which means flaring the tubing, pulling a vacuum and leak-checking before startup - work that needs the tools and the training regardless of how a system is marketed. If you mostly cool: Senville ELITE 24k

The Senville ELITE Series 24k 230V is the outlier worth understanding. At $2,099.99 it has the highest cooling efficiency here

• SEER2 25 against everyone else's 21 - but the lowest heating efficiency, at HSPF2 11.0 against 13.5.

That is a real fork, not a better-or-worse. In a cooling-dominated climate the ELITE is the efficient choice at this size. If the system will carry winter heating, the AURA's HSPF2 13.5 will cost you less every January. The operating cost calculator will price the difference against your own electricity rate.

The highest-rated 24k is not a 24k

Our top-scoring system in this class is the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE Orion XLTH 22k 230V at 9.2 - and it is instructive twice over.

First, it is sold as a 24k and certifies at 22,000 BTU. That is not a defect, it is how the market labels these, but it means it is genuinely a smaller system than the others on this page. If your room needs a true 24,000, this is not the same product.

Second, you cannot buy it online. Fujitsu does not authorize online retail sales of any of its products and voids warranty on internet purchases - see does buying online void your warranty.

How to choose

• Start with certified capacity, not the model name. A 22,000 BTU system in a space that needs 24,000 will run flat out and never quite get there.
• If it heats, HSPF2 decides the running cost. 13.5 versus 11.0 is a large gap at a size that draws real power.
• If two systems certify identically, buy the cheaper one. At this capacity that is a $600 decision.
