Best alternative: Blueridge XS6 Max Efficiency 12k

The Blueridge XS6 Max Efficiency 12k 230V matches the Senville almost spec for spec - SEER2 29.4, HSPF2 12.7, -22F - at $1,979 through Alpine Home Air. It is the one to take if you prefer that retailer or want a second quote on the same performance tier.

Best on price: ACiQ Extreme 12k

The ACiQ Extreme 12k 230V is $1,649.99 at HVACDirect - the cheapest of our picks. You give up efficiency to get there: SEER2 25.4 and HSPF2 10.5 against the Senville's 29.4 and 12.7. It still carries the same -22F heating floor, so the cold-weather capability is not what you are trading away.

Worth doing the arithmetic rather than assuming: the roughly $50 saving over the Senville is recovered quickly by the efficiency difference in most climates. Buy the ACiQ because you prefer the retailer or the professional-install route, not because it is cheaper.

If you want the 115V route: MRCOOL DIY 12k

The MRCOOL DIY 5th Generation 12k 115V is the only pick here that runs on 115V, which matters when your panel is full or a 230V circuit would mean a panel project. It also ships precharged with a quick-connect line set, so the refrigerant work is done for you.

Our top-scoring 12,000 BTU system is the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE Orion XLTH 12k 230V at 9.7 - SEER2 30.5, HSPF2 12.7. It is not a pick here, and the reason is worth your attention.

Fujitsu states that it does not authorize online retail sales of any of its products, and that warranty is void on internet purchases.
