When multi-zone is the right call

A note on multi-zone efficiency ratings

Multi-zone efficiency depends on which and how many indoor heads you pair with the outdoor unit, so there is no one true number for every setup. Manufacturers handle this differently, and we follow their evidence:

• Mitsubishi MXZ publishes a certified nominal rating for the all-non-ducted configuration - a real AHRI number we can show and score - while being clear that your actual efficiency shifts with the exact heads you attach.
• MRCOOL DIY does not certify a combination rating, so we treat its SEER2 as configuration-dependent and withhold a single figure rather than print a flattering one.

Either way: don't shop multi-zone like a single-zone SEER2. Size each head to its room and use the manufacturer's combination table.

Best professional multi-zone: Mitsubishi MXZ SMART MULTI
